Seeing the success of the Micromax Canvas HD smartphone, other firms have been trying to make that kind of handset. And to date, we’ve seen many, haven’t we? Well, another manufacturer called Gionee, has come up with a Canvas HD-like smartphone called ‘Gionee GPad G2’. The smartphone will be available in the country from the first week of May. As for its price, it’s still unknown. Earlier the manufacturer had launchedGionee GPad G1 and the recent launch seems to be its successor.
So what makes this smartphone to be considered as a rival to Canvas HD smartphone? First off, the smartphone boasts a gigantic i.e. 5.3 inch capacitive True Color touchscreen with qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution. Moreover, it is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor along with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. There is 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage capacity and 32 GB expandable storage by means of a microSD card.
It runs on Android v4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, which is not the latest one but okay. The smartphone sports an 8 Megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera. The rear one could record HD (720p) videos. Just as the Canvas HD, this one is too dual SIM (GSM + GSM) capable equipped with dual standby features.
Gionee has provided the smartphone with YAMAHA 168 and Digital Theatre System (DTS) that make the audio output better. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone comprises 3G, 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5 mm audio jack etc. Its battery has the capacity of 3000 mAh. The smartphone has been provided with numerous apps beforehand and some of them are Facebook, NQ Security, YouTube and Twitter.
