Earlier this month, we heard that Microsoft will finally be bringing along support for 1080p displays to Windows Phone later this year, with a new GDR3 update, but now here’s a new rumor that indicates that they’ll be addressing the issues with the added screen real estate, by adding more tiles!
Y’know just incase you werent happy with the four columns (of size small tiles) that are currently possible. This comes from Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet who learnt this information from none other than the Windows Phone team. Currently you can only add two medium sized tiles in each row, but there might be space for three on a larger display, and since everyone’s in love with phablets nowadays, it’d only make sense that Microsoft wants to get into that share of the market with larger windows phones. Currently WP is limited to a maximum of just 720p resolution, which is pretty huge as it is, but Android OEMs have already moved on to 1080p resolution displays, like the one on the Sony Xperia Z and HTC One.
No word if phones with WXGA and 720p resolution displays will also get the added column of tiles, but hey atleast we know Microsoft is still innovating. Because we all wanted more
