Samsung’ the world’s largest Android device maker, seems to be getting a little insecure after all the positive reviews that HTC’s new flagship, the HTC One, has been getting. The company is under heavy fire in HTC’s home country of Taiwan this week, after new allegations that have been bought up by Taiwanese officials.
Said officials are investigating Samsung after receiving complaints that the company hired students to go online and trash talk HTC’s reputation and products, by posting bad reviews and negative comments while also using the opportunity to praise Samsung’s devices at the same time.
After TaiwanSamsungLeaks obtained documents proving that the company partook in such acts, Samsung Taiwan’s Facebook Page confirmed and owned up to the allegations, and issued an apology, admitting that this should not have happened and that they would cease this type of marketing immediately.
Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission was prompted to launch an investigation, which would lead to Samsung paying a penalty of up to $835,000 for Samsung. Tarnishing a rival company’s name by paying students to make anonymous negative posts online. Oh Samsung.
