Bharti Airtel the first mobile network to launch 4G in country is now going to launch 4G services in UT Chandigarh and nearby cities Mohali and Panchkula. Bharti Airtel is holding press conference event tomorrow at its main office in IT Park Chandigarh. Event will be addressed by Mr. Jagbir Singh(CTO & Director – Network Services Group, Bharti Airtel) and Mr. Sarang Kanade(CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel). According to sources Airtel 4G network will go live on 25th March in the capital city of Punjab.
Airtel will offer lightning fast speed on its network based on TD-LTE technology. It is capable of offering downloads speeds up to 100Mbps but now it will offer up to 40Mbps Download and Upload up to 20Mbps. The service will allow superfast access to high-definition (HD) video streaming, downloading, instant uploading of photos and much more.
Bharti Airtel had won Wireless Broadband Access (BWA) licenses in four telecom circles including Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka. Before this Airtel had launched 4G in Pune, Kolkata & Bangalore. After launch of the service in these three consecutive places, Airtel is planning to spread its 4G footprint next in Punjab. Airtel has already installed Hardware for 4G in Amritsar, Jalandhar & Ludhiana and is expected to launch 4G services in these cities soon.
Currently no 4G handset is available in the market but Airtel is providing Dongles for internet access. Airtel currently offers 4G Multi Mode Dongle for Rs. 4,999 and its 4G plan starts from Rs. 999 for 6GB and 50GB for Rs. 4,799
Pan India 4G License winner Reliance Jio Infocomm is also expected to launch its 4G services in the country starting from Bollywood City Mumbai this year.
