Secure your wireless network
Wireless networks are normal nowadays. Every home is now having wi-fi capable routers or modems, so what is the problem, it is the security which is mostly not upto mark. Even now WPA/WPA2 keys are available but still most people are using WEP.
Last year one of the user filed a complaint against one of the top broadband service provider that there employees configuring modems with lowest secure keys i.e WEP, After that company instructed there employees to set the highest security option available.
Now most people even don’t bother to change the default passwords. One should change passwords after setting up first time. We can make our wireless network secure with some of steps so that unauthorized users will not be able to connect easily.
1. Use strong password which is hard to guess and it should not be a dictionary word.
2. Select encryption key WPA/WPA2 or atleast WEP if WPA is not available.
3. You can disable transmitting SSID or change default SSID so that only that person can use your network who knows SSID.
4. Last you can disable DHCP and assign IP address manually, it will be a added security.
