Maruti Alto 800 launched with better fuel efficiency & look

Maruti Suzuki has launched much awaited New Alto 800 today. According to sources it has already received more than 10,000 bookings before the company announces price. It will be available in 3 variants in petrol and same in CNG version. There are Alto 800 base, Alto 800 Lx, Alto 800 Lxi and same models with CNG option. The Petrol range of Alto 800 starts from Rs. 2,44,000 where CNG range starts from 3,19,000.

The New Alto 800 Petrol version gives mileage of 22 kmpl on other side CNG version gives mileage of 30 kmpl. The new Maruti Alto 800 comes with refreshed look with Wavefront design and sloping window lines with a swaying roof. Jewel-finish rear combination lamps and pleasant design on the back door. Petal shaped headlamps along with stylish grille and body colored bumpers. On first look the new Alto 800 looks like Ford Figo. The top variant which has body colored bumpers,Body color door handles, Chrome Accentuated Front Grilled are not present in other two variants.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 comes with 0.8 litre of 796cc Petrol engine which is capable of giving 47.5bhp @ 6000rpm along with producing torque 69Nm @ 3500rpm. It is 3 cylinder engine with 12 valves and 32 bit computer. It has 5 speed transmission coupled with engine to give maximum power. It has Cable Type Gear Shift Mechanism for smooth gear shifting and Flat torque curve prevents frequent gear shifts. It takes near about 14 seconds to reach from 0 kmph to 100 kmph whereas top speed is 145 kmph. Alto 800 comes with factory fitted 145/80 R12 tubeless tyres for smooth and bumpy rides. It has Minimum turning radius of 4.6m whereas ground clearance of 160mm.

For comfort it has Gas Filled Mc Pherson Strut Torsion Roll Control Device front suspension whereas on rear Coil Spring, Gas Filled Shock Absorbers With Three Link Rigid Axle And Isolated Trailing Arm. Talking about braking system in front there is Solid Disc brakes whereas in rears there  are drum brakes. Top variant comes with optional Air Bags. It has seating capacity of 5 persons and it has centrally mounted 35 ltrs fuel tank.  The top variant has Air Conditioner With Heater, Remote Fuel Lid Opener, Front Power windows, Power Steering, Digital Clock (In Speedometer Display), Remote Back Door Opener, Outside Mirror-Internally Adjustable , but missing in base models. The rear view mirror on Driver Side  can adjusted from inside where as on Co driver side rear view mirror is missing on Alto 800.

For safety it has Head Light Leveling, High Mounted Stop Lamp, Immobiliser, Collapsible Steering Column, Tubeless tyres and optional Driver Airbag for top model.

Talking about interiors of Alto 800 are totally refreshed with Dual toned interiors, dashboard is also all new with AC vents, speedometer, storage space. Front seats comes with integrated headrests. Seats are slimmer resulting more leg room and head space. There is bottle holder, can holder and space for coins in the central console whereas there is all new 3-spoke steering wheel with silver accents that gives all refreshing look.

It’s already festival season which may help in more sales but still Alto 800 will face tough competition from Hyundai i10, Hyundai Eon, Ford Figo.

It will be available in Frost Blue, Blazing Red, Torque Blue, Granite Grey, Silky Silver and Superior White Color options.
