Samsung has recently announced the launch of its Galaxy Tab 3, the successor to its Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablet. The brand new tablet comes just afterSamsung Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. However, earlier it was expected that the tablet will be unveiled at the IFA 2013 event in Berlin on August, but out of the blue Samsung announced it. Not to mention, another product of Samsung called ‘Galaxy Note 8.0’ is currently available for preorder in India, as we mentioned in our previous post.
The newly launched tablet is indeed an upgraded version of its predecessor. The Galaxy Tab 3 boasts a 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with WSVGA i.e. 1024 x 600 pixels resolution (~169 ppi pixels density). The tablet runs on Android v4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The tablet has a dual core processor clocking at 1.2 GHz equipped with 1 GB of RAM.
The tablet features a 3 megapixel camera at rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera at front. It comes with 8/16 GB internal storage capacity and supports up to 64 GB expandable memory via microSD card. It seems that the tablet will be available in two versions i.e. WiFi and 3G. And some of its other connectivity options include 2G (EDGE/GPRS), WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi direct, Bluetooth v3.0, USB 2.0, A-GPS with GLONASS etc.
The Wifi version encompasses Accelerometer, Geo-magnetic and light sensors while the 3G version has all of these and additionally Proximity sensor. It comes preloaded with usual Samsung apps including Samsung ChatOn, Samsung Hub and Samsung Kies and common Google services such as Google Play, Google Search, Google Talk, Gmail, Google Plus, Google Maps, Google Now, YouTube etc.
The tablet is capable of playing full HD i.e. 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. It supports virtually all file formats. The weight of the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab is about 302 grams while the 3G version weighs around 306 grams. Its dimensions are 111.1 x 188.0 x 9.9 mm and it is powered by a standard Li-ion 4,000 mAh battery.
