Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of ‘Samsung Galaxy Core’ smartphone. As you can see, it’s a Galaxy series smartphone and to be honest it seems like a mid-range one. Just like the recent Galaxy launches, the Galaxy Core comes with Samsung’s Smart Features including Smart Alert, Smart Stay, S Voice and Motion UI. The smartphone is going to be available in two different versions – Dual SIM and Single SIM. The dual SIM variant will be made available this month while the single SIM variant will be available from July. As for its price, there is no info available right now.
Before talking about its specification, we’d like to shed light on its Smart Features. First of all, Smart Stay, this feature uses sophisticated facial detection system and automatically dims the screen when user is not looking at the smartphone. This feature saves battery life by doing so. Another feature ‘Smart Alert’, as its name implies, automatically alerts users about the messages and missed calls when they pick up their devices. And with the Motion UI feature users can activate common functions like mute or refresh using some specific motion commands. And the ‘S Voice’ feature facilitates voice command functionality.
The smartphone also features a 4.3 inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen with WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution. Running on Android v4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, it is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It comes with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and a microSD card to expand memory capacity up to 64 GB. It has a 5 Megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a VGA front-facing camera. There are various camera modes available such as Best Photo, Cartoon, Continuous, Panorama, Share shot, Smile Shot etc.
It includes a 3.5 mm audio jack and a FM Radio player with RDS. It comes with usual Samsung preloaded apps such as Samsung Apps, Samsung Kies, Samsung Hub, Game Hub, Samsung ChatON Messenger etc. In addition, it comprises all Google Mobile services like Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Plus, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Now and Google Talk. And its connectivity features are 2G, 3G, Bluetooth v3.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB v2.0, aGPS etc. The supported sensors are Accelerometer, Digital Compass and Proximity sensor. It contains an 1800 mAh Li-Ion standard battery. Measuring 129.3 x 67.6 x 8.95 mm dimension, the smartphone weighs around 124 grams.
